According to the CDC, the disease is described as a chronic condition of the joints. In America, 27 million are reported to have the condition. As it is described, it affects any joint but literature suggests that it mainly affects the knees, hips, lower back, and the neck David (2003). Additionally, small joints, especially for fingers and also the base of the thumbs are also affected by osteoarthritis. The condition of the disease it involves cartilage breaks down hence causing pain which is followed by the swelling of the joints. If such conditions worsen, it leads to the development of spurs as times goes the spurs results to the chipping off and float in the joints. At early stages, the diseases start with morning joint stiffness according to David (2003)
Interpersonal-individual knowledge
According to, management of OA has been one of the problems affecting its patient. This is because they lack knowledge on how to manage. Therefore, it has resulted in the deaths of many patients. Due to lack of knowledge of the disease, it has been voted as the major causes of disabilities. Therefore, disability and participation restriction is one of the major importance when comes to assess in defining public health strategies (Smith et al., 2014). Secondly, I would say knowledge concerning the management of the OA seems to be pervasive amongst the majority of the public health system. This is one of the problems which affects and how the disease is handled. Health system should be in the forefront to ensure that the information and community are educated to make sure if such cases arise, need to resolve them is manageable. But to effectively manage, a proper training program should structure. According to, lack of well-structured training programs has contributed to the ignorance of the OA. The public at large does not understand how to handle patient having OA. Also, medical personnel need to be trained in a way to treat such condition (Smith et al., 2014). If proper training is not implemented, the condition will increase in every year. Hence, brings an alarm of health system. To effective discharge, effective structured such as Continuing Medical Education program should be implemented into the system to effectively educate the society on how to handle patients with such conditions. Al-Hazmi (2002) also say the model of the classes and seminar with the rheumatologists will be important for the physicians training.
Another problem comes from the patient. In this case, some of the patients are enthused regarding the principle of individual management. This has been a problem since it will be difficult to handle such cases outside the health care system. Therefore, patients are supposed to offer adequately helpful insight of the non-operative supervision. This is to enhance and also embrace the observance in the management of the OA Illness (Al-Hazmi, 2012).
Interpersonal/ social support-friends/families and doctors
The society, therefore, has some of the responsibility to play. For instance resources from the community should be designed to support the individuals with OA. Additionally, family support should give support to the patient, especially elderly patients.
Organizational support
Apart from community and family, an organization has also roles to play. For instance, public health agencies have a responsibility in educating the public (Man et al., 2016). Health centers such as CDC providing direct funding to the nationals firms for the arthritis activities. Lastly, the National Association of Chronic Directors offers chronic illness program for the health department to ensure OA is managed.
