How to Create Mind Map in Word Using Shapes 1. Open Word document. Click `Insert` tab and select `Shapes. Shapes is located under the `Illustrations` submenu. 2. From the drop down menu, you select the shape of your choice. 3. For starter select a circle. You can adjust its size using the handles. 4. Click on the shape and type in the text. 5. In order to customize a given shape, double click onto the shape, select shape fill option from Format tab and add a desired color, picture or even texture into your creation. Similarly, with the help of shape outline option, you can insert any color of your choice to the shape. Further, special effects can be added to these shapes by selecting shape effect option from menu bar. 6. To draw lines for connecting ideas in the map, go to the ‘Insert’ tab. Students will write a twothree page scholarly paper describing a) their mind map; b) how they envision using their selected theory in in their individual nursing practice; and how their personal philosophical statement is compatible with their chosen theory. 1. Personal philosophical Statement – The use of a nursing philosophy is the basis for nursing practice and promotes the proper application of nursing knowledge as well as the development of nursing theory and knowledge. o Develop a personal philosophical statement incorporating your personal thoughts, and beliefs about nursing. o Information regarding your personal philosophical statement will be included in your mind map, and discussed in the scholarly paper. (See below). Theory Mind Map: 1. Incorporate your personal philosophical statement in your mind map. 2.
